Prelanders & Quiz Funnels

Prelanders are interactive landing pages (quizzes, surveys, or funnels) that qualify users and route them to the most relevant offers based on their answers.

What is a Prelander?

A Prelander sits between your traffic source and your offers. It:

  • Engages users with questions or interactive content
  • Collects tags based on user answers to segment traffic
  • Routes users to the best-matching offer using tag-based rules
  • Improves conversions by showing users relevant offers

Key Concepts

Pages

A prelander consists of one or more pages. Each page can contain questions, content, or offers. Users navigate through pages sequentially.

Tags

Each answer option can assign tags. As users answer questions, tags accumulate in their session. These tags determine which offer they see.

Routing Rules

Rules match accumulated tags to offers. You can require all tags, any tag, or exclude tags. Rules are evaluated by priority.

Offers

Each routing rule points to an offer. When a rule matches, the user is redirected to that offer's destination URL with tracking parameters.

Tag Accumulation

As users answer questions, tags are collected in their session:

Example Quiz Flow:

Q1

"What's your budget?"

User selects: "$50-100"

Tags added: budget-medium

Q2

"What are you looking for?"

User selects: "Fitness equipment"

Tags added: category-fitness

Q3

"Experience level?"

User selects: "Beginner"

Tags added: experience-beginner

Final accumulated tags: budget-medium category-fitness experience-beginner

Routing Rules

Routing rules determine which offer a user sees based on their accumulated tags:

ALL TAGS

Match All Tags

User must have ALL specified tags to match this rule.

Rule: [budget-high, category-fitness] → Premium Fitness Offer
ANY TAG

Match Any Tag

User must have AT LEAST ONE of the specified tags to match.

Rule: [budget-medium, budget-low] → Budget Fitness Offer
NO TAGS

Exclude Tags

User must NOT have any of the specified tags to match.

Rule: NOT [excluded-region] → Standard Offer

Rule Priority

Rules are evaluated by priority (lower number = higher priority). The first matching rule wins. Always set a fallback offer for users who don't match any rule.

Example Routing Setup

PriorityMatch TypeTagsOffer
1ALLbudget-high, fitnessPremium Gym Membership
2ANYfitness, workoutHome Workout Program
3ALLbudget-lowFree Fitness App
-FALLBACK-General Health Offer

Prelander Rotation

A/B Test Multiple Prelanders

You can attach multiple prelanders to a single NextLink and rotate between them:

Weight-Based Rotation

Distribute traffic based on weights (e.g., 70% to Prelander A, 30% to Prelander B)

EPC-Based Rotation

Automatically send more traffic to prelanders with higher earnings per click

Conversion-Based Rotation

Automatically optimize for conversion rate

Configure rotation in your NextLink settings under "Prelander Rotation".

Prelander Analytics

Track Performance

Monitor your prelander performance in the Reports section:

Best Practices

Keep Quizzes Short

3-5 questions is optimal. More questions = more drop-off. Only ask what's needed for routing.

Use Clear, Simple Questions

Users should understand each question instantly. Avoid jargon or complex language.

Test Different Flows

Use prelander rotation to A/B test question order, wording, and design.

Always Have a Fallback

Ensure every user gets an offer, even if they don't match any routing rule.
